Just reading the meme hit me in a way that shook my core! I used to be jokey joke with kids and not really pay attention to what I was saying but more importantly how I was saying it. Kids pick up on more nuances than we really give them credit for, they can feel when an adult is BS’n them. But an even bigger thing that I noticed, they remembered!
Read MoreYea, I started blogging again after a 3 year hiatus!
So today is Sunday October 13th and I want to start blogging again….and I guess I want to start vlogging too, but that seems a bit hard to get a routine down for. I was thinking to keep this blog businessy and then I thought, where’s the fun in that?! So yea, now it’s a personal blog on my business site. Lit right? Let’s start!
So I’ve read/heard multiple times that daily journaling is a great mental exercise. So I guess this blog will be that and honestly I don’t expect anyone to really read this except my mom. Hey Mom! I Love you!
I’ve been ears deep in some new books that have really challenged me to be present in the moment and disciplined while doing it. I grew up with little discipline and didn’t realize it until I was damn near 30, sheesh. Talk about cringy, I will randomly think back on situations and feel extremely cringy because I would blame people for my lack of discipline. I could only imagine their thoughts when it was happening, like “this mf here”.
It really pains me to think about those things, but I’m shocked that no one put me in my place before. Actually I take it back, they probably did and I just wrote it off as them not liking me or something. [these type of random tangent thoughts will happen frequently in this blog :]
Bare with me..
But these books have gave me a reflective moment while listening to them about my old ways. Yea it’s easier for me to listen to books than to read and besides I feel like I’m being way more productive since I listen while I’m working out or working on a project. A win win right?
Stillness is the Key by Ryan Holiday is a really easy listen/read, as he gets into the minds of Tiger Woods, Winston Churchill, Michael Jordan to name a few. He follows a ton of Seneca and Marcus Aurelius seeing as he quotes them throughout almost every chapter. It flows very well and connects at great moments. Honestly I thought of Seneca Wallace when he first said Seneca, a dope dual threat QB who used to torch the Huskers back in the early 2000’s. [randy tangent]
But Seneca the Younger is a Roman philosopher who had a ton of great thoughts back in the day. And when he brought up Marcus Aurelius the first time I was like ah dope the Roman Ceasar from my favorite movie Gladiator! I loved the depiction of Marcus Aurelius in that movie and what he stood for, it made Maximus even more lit. But I’m halfway through the book and it’s given me a lot to pull from and a lot to do. Look it made me start this daily blog lol. Off of this I think what I’ll try to succinct my readings or thoughts into smaller excerpts and post them through my socials. I feel they’ll be better for me in that space.
I’m learning that there are people who look and talk like me that don’t read blogs but they watch videos, so what I’m going to do is read this whole blog and record it! Yea, kind of a weird idea I know. But I like that opportunity to be able to rift on what I’ve written and add to certain spots!
Welp, this was my first daily blog, if you’ve read this far please DM me and tell me so that I can send you something because there is no reason for it and I truly appreciate the support in you reading my random thoughts, lol.
